Back on Track Monday

My plan was to splurge a bit on Thanksgiving dinner, but stay on plan all day before and then jump back on plan the following day. It really didn't happen. Yesterday I spent the day battling cravings, drinking enough water to drown a fish and trying not to think about how good the angus burger from McDonald's was...

Exercise: Turbo Jam (20 Minutes)

For breakfast I had a Chobani Blueberry Greek Yogurt with some granola on top. This yogurt is so thick and yummy, it should be illegal how delicious it is!

For lunch, I went with an old stand by: Morningstar Farms Spicy Black Bean burger, it never disappoints! I tried some new cheese on my sprouted english muffin and this cheese was SO good! If you like Laughing Cow Light, you will LOVE this cheese!!

Here's the nutrition information:

I also put some broccoli slaw on my burger and then had a yummy pickle spear to round things out.

For a snack I tried a new flavored Luna bar, it was the most delicious thing EVER!! Holy smokes, so good!!! Chocolate Peppermint Stick.

I got some samples in the mail today, I love samples :)

I'll post a review once I taste them.

After I finished dinner, my oldest reminded me that I forgot to take a picture of my plate...but we had ranch chicken, potatoes and green beans. Yum!

New...

Insights, Motivation, Etc :)

All these months I've been looking to just get this weight off, but obviously what I'm doing just isn't working! I've been pushing myself to find a new *plan* find something that will be layed out for me so I don't have to think. But, every plan gives you 2 weeks and that's it, you're on your own to use what the plan and/or diet has taught you to create your own plan. For those that don't know, I own a weight loss group on Yahoo: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Healthy_Mamas/ . The women on that group continually inspire and motivate me EVERY single day! There is one woman in particular who has taken her weight loss into her own hands and is doing a phenomenal job, she's amazing!! And what is she doing? Eating her regular foods, no special diet, but smaller amounts and exercising every day. That's it. Easy as that. Heck *I* can do that! I've been reading her post about it for weeks, but last night, it finally hit me that I CAN DO THIS!! I don't need new, exciting, different recipes every single night. I don't need to break the bank every time I go grocery shopping. I don't need every fruit and/or vegetable in the store to be successful. I have so many thoughts going on in my head right now, it's hard to wrap my head around all of them, so sorry if I'm going in a million different directions right now. Another problem I have had is exercising. I used to LOVE it! Couldn't wait to get to the gym every day and could easily spend 2 hours there every morning...but it took me about 6 months to get to that point, and I've been trying to do that much right off the bat, no wonder I'm getting burned out and frustrated.

So, I'm switching gears. Moving slowly, one day at a time. I'm not an athlete, at least not yet, and I've barely lost any weight, so I need to do something different. My plan is to work out every day, doing something. It's not going to be hours at a time yet, because I'm in no position for that, but I need to move every day. As for food, I'm tracking calories, drinking water, and my plan right now is to just stay within my calorie range for the day, everything else WILL fall into place, I know it. One other thing is that I have been a daily weigher, this has to stop. It used to not bother me to see daily fluctuations, but now it is, and I told myself once that happened, the daily weighing would have to stop. So for now, I'll be weighing myself and taking measurements on Monday only.

Ok, so all of this being said! I'll talk about my day yesterday :)

I had about 80 oz of water and my total calorie intake for the day was 1,883. I went over by 83 calories.

For breakfast I had a Breakfast Smoothie, using 1 cup of frozen peaches for the fruit.

For my snack I had a Dannon Light & Fit Strawberry Yogurt:

Later for lunch I had Split Pea and Ham soup and a Sprouted Tortilla with melted cheese. For my afternoon snack I tried a new Larabar- chocolate mint. I had 2 bites and threw the rest out. Completely. Utterly. Disgusting. I'll post pictures, it tasted exactly as it looks...

For dinner, we had turkey sandwiches and bean soup.

We did a lot of running around, and I kept forgetting my camera, so no pictures of anything from this weekend :(

Normal blogging will resume today!

Thursday (11.19.09)

Weight: 188.4
Water: 64oz

My day started off with Cardio Party #1 (45 Minutes). Normally, I have to push pause a few times to catch my breath and most of the time I can't do all the reps of punching and kicking either, but yesterday, I did it all without stopping...it was awesome!!!

The kids and I had some errands to run, but on the way home we stopped for my new addiction, a Sonic Diet Cherry Limeade

Once we got home, I needed a snack, so I tried one of my new goodies; a Luna Peanut Butter Cookie Bar.

How can something so good for us be so delicious? It’s simple. Start with the best ingredients possible (nothing artificial, everything natural) and nutrition that matters most to women. Mix with flavors that make mouths water and the rest is sweet (and healthy!) history.

For lunch, I had leftover Skillet Mac & Beef from Wednesday night's dinner. Next time I make this, I'm going to add some more seasoning, it was ok, just kind of bland.

I didn't have a snack in the afternoon, because we were having an early dinner. I marinated steak (my husband's favorite) all day and then had baked potatoes. It was good, and very filling!

Recipe: Breakfast Sandwich

Back in the day, I used to drive through McDonald's at least 3 or 4 days a week for an egg McMuffin, hash browns and a diet coke. A few years ago I re-created them at home, and love them my way even more :)

Ingredients:

2 Slices Whole Wheat Bread (I've also used Whole Wheat English Muffin and a Sprouted English Muffin)

1 Slice Canadian Bacon (Or meat of your choice or not at all)
1 Slice Cheese (today I went with Cheddar...YUM!)

Step 1: Cook your egg, I love my cute little egg cooking pan (don't mind the stove...)

Step 2: Assemble your sandwich and enjoy :)

Things I Love #3

Whole Foods Cherry Vanilla Creme Soda

In a word. DELICIOUS!
